New Year Resolutions – we can help you stick not quit!

Our chiropractic care and complementary therapies can help you move through the revolving door of New Year’s resolutions in 2024.

Do you see a fitter, healthier you for the New Year? You’re not alone. According to research by Forbes 30% of Brits will have set New Year’s Resolutions for 2024. And at the time of their research a further 8% were considering doing so.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular resolutions are to exercise more and lose weight, with mental well-being also featuring highly.

We all know that resolutions come and go with the changing of each year. And that it’s not the making of the resolution that instigates that desired change but sticking to it. Yes, the sticky bit!

As Forbes states the “key to this appears to be about being realistic and setting achievable goals.” And this is where we can help.

Before embarking on a new exercise regime or physical activity, it is worth considering what your body is capable of achieving and if there are any problems that will stop you at that first metaphorical hurdle. Physical limitations, an old injury for example, often prevent us from continuing with a new activity.

Chiropractic Care

Whether your preferred activity is running or walking, football or bowls, golf or gym, you’ll want to participate unhampered by pain, restricted movement or a re-occurring injury. Otherwise you may not wish to continue and your resolutions for a fitter you will come to an abrupt end.

Our chiropractors use careful diagnosis and head to foot functional analysis to identify areas of weakness, inflexibility and poor movement patterns. They then suggest a treatment plan tailored to the individual. This may include a mix of gentle adjustments, exercises and massage to help you move forward. They may also recommend you to our in-house podiatrist. X-rays and Ultrasound scans can be arranged if necessary.

Our path to a better you includes:

  • Overall wellness plan
  • Gentle adjustments
  • Stretches
  • Light exercises
  • Muscle stimulation
  • Prevention and recovery from injury.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage can also help you to continue with your plans. Working out, in whatever form, can cause muscular pains (DOMS – delayed onset muscle soreness). This is actually a good sign when getting fit but you also want to alleviate pain and improve muscle quality and healing. Sports massage speeds up the healing process in injured soft tissue by increasing the healing activity of cells called fibroblasts, which play a critical role in healing connective tissue. Well-being

Our mental health and well-being is often affected by pain and discomfort. Chiropractic care, podiatry, acupuncture and massage can help here too by addressing the causes and releasing tension.

Acupuncture

Stresses and strains from our emotions and every day life can also have an impact and may produce symptoms such as headaches and migraines. Acupuncture can help with these conditions and a Chinese medicine perspective can also be helpful for our general well-being. For example the damp weather can adversely affect our bodies. Reiki

Reiki with Hannah is an opportunity for the body to relax, rebalance and reset. It promotes an easing of tensions and pain by allowing your body and mind to totally relax, unwind and become unburdened of stress and anxiety, leading to a sense of positive well-being.

Reiki is a complementary therapy that works through the laying of hands, either lightly on the body or slightly above and works on a physical and emotional level. Therefore, any patient can benefit from Reiki treatment as there is very little or no physical pressure applied. Find out more from our blog REIKI WITH HANNAH.

Podiatry

Feet are often overlooked when it comes to our health, yet they are crucial to our mobility and quality of life. It’s because of their complexity that they are susceptible to conditions that can cause pain and even disability if left untreated.

Our podiatrist Paul helps patients to keep these amazing structures in working order. Whether this is just a simple toenail cut, removal of corns and callous, or more complex treatments like nail surgery under local anaesthetic and gait analysis, Paul can help you.

So top-to-toe we have you covered. If you have any uncertainties we recommend a FREE SCREEN appointment with one of our chiropractors to have a face-to-face chat about the difficulties you are having. They will then signpost you in the right direction for your care.
