World Menopause Day – acupuncture may help relieve some of the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause

As many of us know women have a lot to deal with during perimenopause and menopause. Hot flushes, excess sweating, mood swings, sleep disturbances, and skin and hair problems to name but a few symptoms that affect a lot of women. Menopausal symptoms are common, and depending on their severity, can have a major impact on quality of life, health and wellbeing, as well as the ability to attend work.

There has been much better recognition over the past few years of how debilitating both perimenopause and menopause can be. Hormonal and other drugs can treat the various symptoms, but they are not without side effects and some people just do not want to take medicines if they can find other solutions.

Amanda, our acupuncturist, has been successful with many of her patients – reducing or eliminating sweating, anxiety, sleep disturbance and dry skin.

There is more information on acupuncture and menopause on the British Acupuncture Council website.
