Compassionate Person-centred Counselling at Lymington Chiropractic Clinic

Introducing Anna Shears

At Lymington Chiropractic Clinic, we’re committed to supporting your whole health—mind and body. We are proud to welcome Anna Shears, a fully qualified person-centred counsellor and BACP member, to our growing team.

Anna offers a warm, empathetic space for adults facing life’s most difficult moments—whether that’s bereavement, trauma, anxiety, relationship challenges, or long-term stress and overwhelm. Her presence at the clinic reflects our belief that healing the body often requires caring for the heart and mind, too.

Why Counselling?

Life can bring changes that leave us feeling lost—loss, grief, illness, or unexpected transitions. Anna provides a calm and non-judgmental space to explore those feelings at your own pace.

As a person-centred therapist, Anna believes each individual has the potential for healing, clarity, and personal growth. Her role is to help you reconnect with your inner strength and find your path forward. She has particular interest and experience working with:

  • Bereavement and grief
  • Anxiety and stress
  • Trauma-related issues
  • Depression and low mood
  • LGBTQIA+ identity and support
  • Relationship challenges

What is Person-Centred Counselling?

We asked Anna to explain Person-Centred Counselling and how she can help you.

Person-centred counselling is an empathetic, supportive form of therapy that focuses entirely on you as an individual – your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

But what truly makes it effective is the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. The heart of this approach is creating a space where you feel genuinely heard, understood, and accepted. It’s through this safe, trusting connection that healing and personal growth can take place.

You Set the Pace

You lead the way in this process. You choose what we talk about and how deeply you want to go. There’s no pressure, no rush, and no “right” way to be in the room. My role is to walk beside you, helping you make sense of your inner world and discover your own path forward.

How Counselling Can Help

This kind of counselling can support you to:

  • Feel more confident and self-aware
  • Understand and manage difficult emotions
  • Heal from past hurts or confusion
  • Build healthier relationships with yourself and others
  • Make meaningful changes in your life

Mind-body Connection

Pain doesn’t just affect the body – it can also weigh heavily on the mind.

If you’re feeling anxious, low, frustrated, or isolated as a result of your physical pain, person-centred counselling can help. Long-term physical pain often brings more than just discomfort — it can cause sadness, anger, fear, or even a loss of identity. At the heart of person-centred counselling is empathy, presence, and respect for your inner world. I can work with clients experiencing a range of physical issues who are also struggling with the emotional toll it takes. Together, we can explore these feelings and help you regain a sense of self.

Many of our patients experience physical symptoms that reflect emotional strain—from tension and fatigue to chronic pain. Anna understands this connection and works with clients to explore how emotions are held in the body. Her work complements the care provided by our chiropractors and massage therapists, offering a truly integrated approach to wellbeing.

Anna is available for in-person sessions on Wednesdays and Thursdays at Lymington Chiropractic Clinic. For more information call reception on 01590 679560 or email Anna directly at [email protected].
